Welcome to AikenLife!
Thank you for stopping by! Take a few minutes and see what we have to offer. We hope to help you make the most out of life by providing a steady flow of biblically based and personally applicable information. Who are we?

We now offer two Free Bible Study courses by Mail. Each course offers you 8 lessons to fill out in your own time and in the comfort of your own home. For more information please see:

Vertical Thinking
Our vigilance must be better than that of a deer. We can't just look around; we must look up, both for danger and for help.

What to Give the Spiritually Hungry?
Apparently the feeling is that people who are lost and dying in sin can somehow be saved by softball and soccer, pot roast and potato salad, Christmas candy and Easter eggs. Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).

Finding the Lord's Church
It is our desire that you would find Christ by obeying His gospel and, in so doing, find yourself in His church. There is no greater find in all the world (Mt. 13:45-46).

God's "Only Forgotten Son"
May it never be that Jesus to us will be a "forgotten" Son, but rather one whom we will remember daily--above all others--and show that we do by the way in which we live.

How Do We Come Across?
When communicating the fact of religious error to those who are outside of the body of Christ, or to those who are new Christians, how do we come across? What is the perception we leave? We must exercise caution with the words we speak, lest a few careless words slam shut the doors of opportunity to teach.

A Real Live Bible Miracle
The next time you hear of "miracles", compare what is being done with the Bible miracles in the New Testament age.

Have You Heard?
This group occupies a unique and enviable position, indeed! It is a position based upon and produced by the infallible Word of God. This group does not occupy this position merely as their opinion but because the Word of God tells them and all others to do so. Wouldn't you like to do the same?

Why Go to Worship?
The main reason we go to church for every service is so that we do not die spiritually.

Who is this Jesus?
When this was first asked me it was not a matter of grave concern, but when asked again and again it makes me know that it is a problem that deserves a sensible, simple, understandable answer that will produce faith or that will strengthen faith in the hearts of the questioners.

Salvation by Grace
So "grace" is Christ dying and giving us the New Testament to guide us. When we obey its terms, we can have the salvation it offers. Truly the "grace of God" is a wonderful gift that we really do not deserve! But, if we don't obey it, we reject God's grace and are lost (2 Thes. 1:8).

Things Necessary for Salvation
Just attending the services of the church does not guarantee salvation. There is more to do than what is done in the meeting house. That is not intended to minimize the importance for the assembly; but it is to say that just meeting on the Lord's Day is not tantamount to faithfulness.

Causing the Church to Grow
The only way to build up the Lord’s church in a scriptural, God-pleasing way is to follow the methods laid down in the book of Acts. Beginning with Pentecost, the early church enjoyed great growth, first 3000, then 5000, then a great multitude. This growth was no accident.

Fellowship
Fellowship of men with men is an earthly tie which has an acceptable religious significance only when it complements our service to God. It is given divine regulations, but men do not always follow those regulations.

The Journey of Your Life
How's your relationship with the Lord today? Is it a journey of growth or just a distant memory?

Satan
We need to realize that Satan is constantly trying to find out what it is that can carry us away from God. But if we stay tuned into the Word of God then we will be less susceptible to falling for his devices.

Love God, Hate Church
If anyone hates the Lord's church, then he needs to listen to what God has said and believe what He has said.

Family Foundations
As For Me and My House
Good homes are not a matter of chance; they are a matter of choice. "Choose for yourselves" indicates that if you want a godly family, you're going to have to make some decisions along the way.

Healing Sick Marriages
Nursing an ailing marriage back to good health is much harder than just putting it to death by means of a divorce.

Why Do Marriages Fail?
"For I hate divorce," says the Lord, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says the Lord of hosts. "So take heed to your spirit that you do not deal treacherously" (Malachi 2:16). I doubt many people take heed to what the Lord says about divorce or there would not be so many today.

Wake Up Christian Parents
Many parents have forgotten that it is their Christian duty to raise their children up in the way of the Lord (Deut. 6:6; Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4).

Salvation
What is Most Precious to You?
What do you consider to be most precious? If it is the blood of Jesus, your life will be greatly impacted. You will put Jesus, and service to Him, first in your life - everything else will come second to Jesus.

It is Time
We dare not waste a moment of golden and precious time. To delay, postpone, and procrastinate is a serious crime against heaven and the salvation of souls.

The Cost of Eternal Life
The view that says that all we need to do in order to be saved is believe is popular and comforting, but, as the Scriptures reveal, it is simply not true! When we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Lord of Heaven and earth (cf. Matthew 28:18), we must then obey Him and His will, doing His commandments and walking as He walked (1 John 2:1-6).

They Found a Man of Cyrene
The image of Simon bearing the cross of Jesus shows us the suddenness of cross bearing. But it also shows us the road to the cross leads to where we can leave the cross. Simon left the cross at Golgotha and Jesus bore the full weight of the cross in his death. Because of his death, we have an answer to our cross bearing.

The Whole Counsel of God
Those who teach that faith alone saves sinners and that obedience is not essential to salvation are not teaching the whole counsel of God.

Pentecost
The most extraordinary Pentecost of all was the Pentecost that followed the resurrection and the ascension of our Lord Jesus...On this glorious Sunday, we find Peter exercising the "keys of the kingdom" as he effectively opened the door to the church by proclaiming Jesus to be both Lord and Christ.

Why Did Jesus Come to Earth?
We see that only Jesus can give us life. But not everyone can have this life that Jesus came to give. Only those that do the will of the Father can receive it (Matthew 7:21). The will of the Father is to listen to His Son Jesus (Matthew 17:5).

The Sinner's Prayer
While the above prayer is, indeed, indicative of humility and contrition, the idea that one who is an alien sinner can pray for forgiveness—with an inherent right to expect his sins to be forgiven—is foreign to the New Testament.

Spiritual Feast
What if there were a source of food and drink that forever satisfied your hunger? How valuable would that be to you?

Current Concerns
He Hit Me First
Thinking about David helps me cope with the spirit of revenge - to "turn the other check." I hope it helps you, too.

Wrong is Always Wrong
We must remember that God sees everything we do. Just because no one else sees doesn't make it right.

I'll Do It Later
A poem showing how important it is not to wait to be baptized.

Spiritual Authority
Do you, and/or the church with which you associate, do all things according to Jesus' authority? Can you show us from the Bible all things that you do? If not, by what authority are you doing the things that you do? Let us all serve Jesus the Lord according to His will as revealed in the Bible!

Stand
Paul challenges, "Stand strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. And, having done all to stand, stand therefore..." (Eph. 6:10-13). When your moment of trial comes—will you stand?

Social Drinking
Question: When did the evil steward begin beating the servants? Answer: with the first blow. When did he begin eating? With the first bite. When did he begin to be inebriated or drunk? Answer: With the first drink.

Sobriety
To be sober is to be free from any intoxicant. Certainly, alcohol and drugs represent intoxicants, but, power, fame, sex, money, and many other things can intoxicate people. Anything that excites a person so that he constantly desires the same form of excitement can intoxicate.

For They Shall See God
Wouldn't it be wonderful if people could see God by seeing us? That's the way it's supposed to be. We are to take all of the characteristics that have been revealed about our heavenly Father and make those a part of our own character.

The Lord's Church is You
Your daily acts as a Christian preach more sermons, teach more people, save more lives than the words that are spoken inside the four walls of the church building.
