GOD HAS SPOKEN (on
parenting)
According to God's plan of human reproduction, children are conceived
and born to a husband and wife, thus, into a family relationship. God
never authorized or approved of homosexual relationships, which are an
abomination to Him; and He surely would never approve of children being
brought up by two men or two women living in that fashion. He planned
for children to have a mother and a father in their home (Eph.
6:1-4).
From their parents first, children should learn about authority.
The fundamental principles of discipline should first be learned in the
family from their parents. Children who are properly trained by their
parents have the understanding necessary to conform to the expectations
and highest principles of society. From their parents children also
learn to distinguish between wants and needs. Children have their
"want-to's", but parents determine their real need. This discipline
will keep them from over-indulgence and from indebtedness and financial
woes from which they cannot extricate themselves. In this matter, if
parents set an example of over-indulgence and fiscal irresponsibility,
they lead their children into ruin.
Children must obey their parents in the Lord (Eph. 6:1).
This necessarily implies both knowledge of God (which they must be
taught) and direction and instruction from their parents. Did you
ever try to obey someone who never gave you assignments or directions?
Obedience of children does not stop at the beginning of their teens.
They also are to honor
their father and their mother (Eph. 6:2). This involves not only
obedience but also requiting (repaying) their parents when the
parents get old (1 Tim. 5:4).
Children are a blessing, a heritage from the Lord (Psa.
127:3-5). They need love, the physical necessities, spiritual
guidance, discipline both instructive and corrective, and strong
encouragement for the things they achieve so that they can have a proper
sense of self-esteem (Rom. 12:3; Ti. 2:7; Prov. 25:6,7; 30:32; Phil.
2:3; 4:13). A great responsibility, which cannot rightly be
neglected, is placed upon parents to nurture their children and lead
them to be God-fearing and obedient adults.
