Love God,
Hate Church
Ample information is provided in God's
Word to acquaint people with the Lord's church. If anyone hates the
Lord's church, then he needs to listen to what God has said and believe
what He has said. Then he can really love God and keep His commandments
(Jno. 14:21,23,24). This includes the command to worship Him in
spirit and truth (Jno. 4:21-24; Rev. 22:9).
Why Go to Worship?
The main reason we go to church for every service is so that we do not
die spiritually.
The Grass is Always Greener
There is a great temptation to spend too much time wishing for
another life that we don't take advantage of the one we have. Paul said,
"...for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content" (Phil.
4:11). That's hard. But if Paul could say that while chained in
prison, surely we can find some contentment within our own
circumstances. When the grass next door is mesmerizing you, these
suggestions may help.
Have You
Heard?
This group occupies a unique and enviable
position, indeed! It is a position based upon and produced by the
infallible Word of God. This group does not occupy this position merely
as their opinion but because the Word of God tells them and all others
to do so. Wouldn't you like to do the same?
Kindness is from the Heart
God is willing and wants to forgive us as
we stumble through our walk of life, but we must be willing to forgive
others first (Matt 6:14-15).
Miracles and Their Purposes
One who studies and understands the
scriptures knows that the miracles that existed during the early days of
Christianity would not always exist and they would be done away with.
Awakening
God has been trying passionately to awaken us. He has provided the cure.
He has given His only begotten Son (Jno. 3:16) and accepted His
blood as the antidote. We can continue to live in darkness and sin or we
can come alive in the Light. "This is the condemnation, that the
light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil" (Jno. 3:19).
No Progress without Practice
It takes practice to make progress, and we
should not expect that to be any less true in spiritual matters than in
those of a worldly nature.
Seeking the Old Paths
It is true that something new is not automatically wrong, but
whatever is "new" should not diminish the practice of the ancient
faith.
Why We Cannot Ignore
Unfaithfulness to the Lord
When a child is born into God's family he
has mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers who must now take
responsibility for his care. No earthly family would ignore a member
walking away from the circle of love which binds a family together. Why
then, does it happen so frequently in the family of God?
Facing
Temptation?
There is no sin in being tempted. Everyone
is. Even Jesus was (Hebrews 4:15). John Wycliffe was of the
opinion that "the holiest and highest in life have the most temptations.
How much higher the hill is, so much is the wind there greater; so, how
much higher the life is, so much the stronger is the temptation of the
enemy." He may well have been right. The godly life is not the untested
life, rather it is the life that has been pushed to the breaking point
by temptation, "yet without sin."
Is God Mad
at You?
Is God mad at you? If you are living a
life of sin in rebellion to His will, yes, He is. Can something be done
to turn God's wrath away and allow you to be at peace with God?
Something already has been done. Jesus died. Accept His grace. "He who believes and is baptized shall
be saved" (Mark 16:16).
The Bible is Understandable
In a time of flooding religious error and misunderstanding of the Bible
let us not blame God and His word, but with great determination find the
truth revealed within the pages of the Holy Bible and unite on that
truth to salvation. May God richly bless our efforts to know and do His
will.
What Happens to Me When I Die -
The word "sleep"
is used at times in the Bible to speak of death without any reference to
the condition of the spirit or where one goes after death. For instance,
consider John 11: 11-14, where Jesus used "sleeps" synonymously
with "dead". When the body is dead it appears to be asleep, hence, the
figurative use of "sleep." Likewise, when Stephen "fell asleep," this is
an expressive way of saying "he died" (Acts 7:60, note 8:1).
God
Has Spoken on the Work of the Church
The church of the Lord, the kingdom of
God, exists by the purpose and fore-knowledge of God. He planned its
existence its purpose, its organization, and its work (Eph. 3:8-12).
In view of the fact that God determined these things, those who profess
citizenship in the kingdom should have enough respect for the Will of
God that they refuse to tamper with God's building (1 Cor. 3:9-17).
