Social
Drinking
Question: When did the
evil steward begin beating the servants? Answer: with the first blow.
When did he begin eating? With the first bite. When did he begin to be
inebriated or drunk? Answer: With the first drink.
Sobriety
To be sober is to be free from any
intoxicant. Certainly, alcohol and drugs represent intoxicants, but,
power, fame, sex, money, and many other things can intoxicate people.
Anything that excites a person so that he constantly desires the same
form of excitement can intoxicate.
For They Shall See God
Wouldn't it be wonderful if people could see God by seeing us? That's
the way it's supposed to be. We are to take all of the characteristics
that have been revealed about our heavenly Father and make those a part
of our own character.
Suffering
The Bible reveals that the origin of
suffering is the consequence of the sin of Adam and Eve.
The Lord's Church is You
Your daily acts as a Christian preach more
sermons, teach more people, save more lives than the words that are
spoken inside the four walls of the church building.
Two Men Can't
Agree on Religion -
Two men are religious, and both seem to be sincere, but they never seen
to agree on religious questions. A brief look at their applications of
the Bible helps to explain their problem.
Gambling is a Sin -
I've heard more than one person assert that "the Bible does not
condemn gambling." While it is true that there is no Bible statement
which says, "Thou shalt not gamble" it is entirely UNTRUE that the Bible
is silent on the subject.
Bare Season is Here -
According to God, licentiousness (or lasciviousness) is a work of
the flesh, a sin (Galatians 5:19-21). What does this have to with
how we dress? Consider the following definition of lascivious: "Tending
to excite lustful desires." So anything that might excite lustful
desires could be called "lascivious."
Girls' Clothes too Skimpy
If a Christian had written the above words, perhaps some of our brethren
would have ridiculed him as going about with a ruler to measure
hemlines! However, this comes not from some preacher, but from women of
the world! They can see the connection between modest dress and
morality, between immodest "inappropriate" apparel and "the attire of an
harlot" (Prov. 7:10). So, why can't we?
Lying
"Lie not one to another,
seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds." (Colossians
3:9). From these verses we conclude that honesty is necessary in
order to:
Mind if I Smoke?
No, if you prove conclusively that it is
not harmful to your body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (I
Corinthians 6:19).
